About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in the the Department of Biology at Harding University. My research interests include wildlife biology and conservation with a more specific focus on the impacts of anthropogenic disturbance on wildlife ecology. In addition to teaching and research efforts at Harding, I also serve as the Property Director at the nearby Gilliam Biological Research Station (GBRS).

During my Ph.D. research, I gained extensive experience handling and banding wild birds, which culminated in my certification as a Master Bander. At Harding I operate a weekly banding station with undergraduate students at GBRS.

I maintain a live stream 4K camera at Harding University to facilitate "distance" learning, and research opportunities for students of all ages. Recently, 4th grade students in Searcy, AR used the video footage to answer questions related to seed preference and bill adaptation of various wild bird species. University students have also used this camera to observe feeder visits of wild birds and test the assumptions of optimal foraging theory and the predation/starvation tradeoff. Last semester, Ecology Lab students used the live stream feed to observe movements of hatchling softshell turtles in an experimental pond.
